Confirmation Class

Confirmation:   This is a great, faith-growing opportunity for our 8th grade or older children who have not been confirmed.  The 2018/2019 Confirmation Class began on Sunday, October 7,  with 8th graders starting on their Confirmation journey including 12 class sessions.    This class culminated with Confirmation Sunday on March 3, 2019 when the youth  confirmed their commitment.

The 2019-2020 schedule will commence in the fall.  It will follow closely what we did this past year, which you can find below.

To register: Confirmation Registration Form.    See the schedule behind the link included below:

If you would like to participate in this class or have questions, please contact Pastor Ken (319) 624-2288 or

Our goal for the Confirmation experience is to help youth discern their faith in Christ, confirm it and truthfully live that commitment.  This is why Confirmation is more than a 90-minute class on Sunday night.  It will prepare them for a lifetime of Christian discipleship. Therefore students will be expected to attend worship, participate in Sunday school, Youth group, join in field trips, and volunteer with special activities (such as Highway 1 Cleanup or other service projects).  We will need the support of parents to assist as chauffeurs, providers of snacks, and to help supervise during special activities.

Know Your Story…Encounter the faith narrative from creation to Christianity.

Confirm Your Faith…Embrace the essential beliefs and practices of The United Methodist Church.

Live Your Commitment…Embody the confirmation vows and embark on the Christian discipleship journey.

Confirmation is not the beginning or the end of the faith journey. Confirmation is about making disciples. It is that simple and that challenging.

Here are the 2018-2019 students who were confirmed March 3, 2019 into Solon United Methodist Church.
