I am a widow, and after nine years, I am still trying to figure out what I am going to do with my life when I retire. I tell everyone my husband planned the fun, and I planned the work, so I have to determine how to balance that out more. I do keep very busy with grandchildren’s activities. My immediate family, mom and siblings are close and love to spend time together as well.
What is your position at SUMC?
I began my work as treasurer at SUMC in 2014 as a volunteer and became officially one of the staff in January of 2016. I retired from my full-time job for a general contractor in Cedar Rapids in 2018, so no longer work 2 jobs. My work as treasurer has been challenging, engaging and rewarding. It is a part “of coming home”. I went to Sunday School here as a child, John and I were married here, as were some of my children and John’s memorial services were held here. I enjoy having my church family be part of my life.
