Music at SUMC
Music plays an important part in our worship experiences, and we have a passion for making our music glorify God. Please consider sharing your musical gifts and talents with our church. Note: During the Summer months the Choir and Bells do NOT meet regularly, but it’s a time for a variety of music from individuals and small groups who would like to share their talents with the congregation. If you have an interest contact Lisa Schroeder, Minister of Music and Discipleship at (firstname.lastname@example.org )
If you like to sing, this is the place for you. The Chancel Choir sings a wide variety of musical styles. From classical to contemporary, this ensemble sings multiple times per month and rehearses weekly. It is open to everyone who loves to sing.
Rehearsals: Wednesday evenings, 7:30-8:30 pm in the Sanctuary.
Prefer ringing to singing? The tradition of playing pitched bells has evolved over the centuries into an art form of its own. We have both an adult (Celebration Bells) and youth bell choir who perform separately, adults performs twice a month during Sunday services, and youth once.
Rehearsals: Wednesday evenings in the sactuary: 5:30-6:30 pm is youth, 6:30-7:30 pm adult practice.
If you have an interest contact Mary Kucera, Bell Choir Director at (email@example.com)
“The Praise Band” — adult and youth praise band featuring both guitars and other instruments. We rehearse as needed usually on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 pm.
Instrumentalists and Soloists
Do you play a musical instrument? Are you a vocalist? There are opportunities to share!
