We need:

Workers – servers, dishwashers and cleanup crews and pie bakers are needed for all of the football dinners.  It’s an enjoyable time to chat with neighbors and see other community members that come in for that traditional tenderloin or slice of homemade apple pie!   Please sign up on the clipboard and be a part of this long tradition (for more on the history of this event, please click on this link – Football Dinner Beginnings.

The first Chickin’ Pickin’ of the year was a fun event with the UM Women meeting on Aug 30 to get ready for the first game on  September 2.  They met in the church kitchen 1:00 pm to  de-bone and cut up chicken to be used for our homemade chicken and noodles, and created a tower of about a thousand plastic containers used for take out.  Looked almost like huge legos and they were having fun!  Many hands make light work!     For questions call Barb Kalm at 319-321-4078.

Solon United Methodist Church has been serving up tenderloins, church burgers, and homemade soup for over 60 years for all the home Iowa football games. Please join our energetic, fun group in the kitchen, dining room, or on the cleanup crew. Along with a “little” work you can enjoy lively conversation and fellowship, great laughter, and team work.    – The Football Dinner Committee thanks you!
